Foundress of the nuns referred to as "Poor Clare's". She was inspired by San Francisco who was a friend and a mentor. She ran away from home to a chapel where San Francisco shaved off her hair, took away her beautiful noblewoman clothes and married her to Christ in a rough brown robe. Soon after, her sister Agnes and other women joined her. They lived a life of poverty. They ate no meat, wore no shoes and were silent most of the time.

St. Clare's words:

"Go forth in peace, for you have followed the good road.
Go forth without fear, for he who created you has made you holy,
has always protected you, and loves you as a mother."
